Fishing Regulation Change Proposal
Attached is the public notice for a fishing regulation change proposal to remove the 28-inch minimum length limit on muskellunge in Butternut Lake and replace it with the standard 40-inch minimum length limit in effect on most waters statewide. This notice will be published in the Ashland Daily Press on November 3, 2020 and in the Price County Review on November 5, 2020. The notice is also posted on WDNR’s website. The proposed change stems from Citizen Resolution 020120 presented in Ashland County at the Spring 2020 hearings of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress. Because it seeks to replace a special regulation with a standard regulation, the proposal can be routed through the streamlined procedures in Chapter NR 20.35 of Wisconsin’s Administrative Code. If enacted, a second notice would be published for the change that would take effect on April 1, 2021.
